The Suzuki SX4 S-CROSS ALLGRIP

The new Suzuki S-Cross is based on a good hull dimensions of which are on the average compact class. However, it presents a fairly spacious cabin and luggage space. On the other hand, there’s no leftover space to spare except for a tire repair kit. From the design of the bodywork emerges an effort for sophistication, a feature which is rarely encountered in Suzuki, with the case of the S-Cross being a positive development. The large luminaires forward with permanent lighting LED Day impress. The small chrome bodywork, gives a more elegant touch while tricking the need for luxury. All this because, in the recent years, the category of hot hatchbacks has raised the level of luxury mainly through the German models. On the other hand, the equipment is generous in all editions. Among other things it includes a full set of airbags, ESP system and traction control, trip computer, front armrest, split rear seat, air conditioning, audio system with 4 speakers, etc. Furthermore, you will find from Hill Assist system and alloy wheels to lights and dual zone air conditioning.

There is also an extensive list of optional equipment which, in terms of completeness, brings the S-Cross close to European models. The first impression gained from the S-Cross and generally on the current Suzuki, is that of modernization. It was about time, because the company had left a little bit behind the development of modern cars. And the S-Cross is a modern car, in the formal approach that the Japanese have, where here in Europe, it enjoys high acceptance. It is hard to find disgruntled customers in the Suzuki product which has been proven reliable! The driving position is good, with adjustable seat height. The fact that the body is 17 cm above the ground, gives an extra advantage in the patronizing sense of the S-Cross driver, referring to SUV/Crossover models.

Ultimately, this new dominant perception of modernizing in Suzuki is something we really like. We tried out a S-Croos gasoline motor of 1.6 lt, VVT technology. We had an option of wheel drive and CVT automatic transmission with paddles behind the steering wheel standard equipment of the automatic version. The engine shows the power of 120 hp but there’s not much to show in torque, just 156 Nm. However in some strange way the petrol engine of Suzuki exhibits good response at low rpm with the system variable valve timing to help smooth performance.

Surely the CVT is not the better that could be placed in the Suzuki S-Cross, especially when we have passed the era of cheap-automatic sequential gearboxes (DSG type). If you do not care about the response but want the convenience of the automatic transmission, the CVT gearbox of the S-Cross will do the job. The driving system of the S-Cross AllGrip is upgraded featuring Lock option and demonstrated more direct than the Qashqai and Yeti models. It is indeed a technological innovation, combined with a torsion beam in rear suspension and still leaves room for a 430 liter trunk!
