The presentation of the new BMW X6

This December will make its European debut the brand new BMW X6 2nd generation, a total upgraded car that takes the word «Sports Activity Coupe» one step further. The BMW X6 is the model that essentially discovered the SUV category with features of a coupe vehicle. Since 2008, they managed to sell 250,000 copies creating a school that found many imitators, even from the same the BMW, which created a smaller variant, the X4. The time has arrived, however, for the Bavarians to present the second generation of the Sports Activity Coupe, which is based again on the X5. The silhouette of the new X6 remains relevant, although acquired a more muscular status. Furthermore, the front part is less rounded than the previous model. In general, however, the new X6, at least from the photos, looks alot like the smaller X4.

Most of the interior, including the dashboard, comes from the X5. In its new generation, the X6 won an additional 10 liters of volume in the trunk, reaching over 580 liters. Moreover, if the rear seats fold you immediately have a 1,525 liter load space. The new X6 is 32 mm farther away from the old and 6 mm wider, while the height is extended by 33 mm. The wheelbase remained the same and extends to 2,933 mm. Although it is bigger and better equipped, the new X6 is lighter up to 25 pounds from the first generation. According to BMW, it is perfectly weighed and has a 50-50 weight distribution between the front and rear axle.

In Europe, the new X6 will be launched in December in three versions, all with an 8 speed automatic transmission and all wheel drive. The xDrive30d of 258 hp carries a 3 liter 6 cylinder diesel motor, which allows it to reach 0-100 km/hr in 6.7 seconds and has a top speed of 230 km/hr, while at the same time the BMW promises average consumption of 6.0 lt/100 km. The next option is the diesel 3 liter xDrive50d of 381 hp and 740 Nm, which makes the 0 to 100 km/hr in 5.2 seconds. It has a limited top speed of 250 km/hr and 6.6 liter consumption every 100 km. Top version initially will be the petrol xDrive50i, which is equipped with a V8 bi-turbo 4.4 liter motor with a performance of 450 hp, which allows it to perform the test of 0-100 km/hr in 4.8 seconds, with its consumption at 9.7 lt/100 km. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/hr.

In the spring of 2015, BMW will enrich the range of X6 xDrive35i petrol with 306 horsepower, while a new addition to the diesel options will be the xDrive40d 313 hp. Later, the Bavarian company will present the top version with the badge of the M Division, the CH6M, which will have a power that exceeds 550 hp. The new X6 will be available in the basic version, in xLine and M Sport, while offered options such as Dynamic adaptive suspension and 20 inch alloy wheels.
