Nissan Makes a Car That Is Highly Visible at Night

Have you heard or read Nissan’s slogan? Innovation that Excites. This is exactly what the car manufacturer managed to do when they debuted the Glow-in-the-Dark Nissan Leaf at the Chicago Auto Show. From the name itself, you can pretty much surmise what makes this vehicle unique and wonderful.

Nissan has been on a mission to take the lead on the use of specialty car paint. The first was when they used a dirt-resistant paint that led to a creation of a self-cleaning vehicle. If other car manufacturers followed their lead, it could have been the end for the car wash business. The dirt-resistant paint was applied on half of a Note model and then driven over a muddy track for demonstration purposes.

Nissan has also used a sort of self-healing paint on their Murano, X-Trail and 370Z. The Scratch Shield paint gets rid of small scratches in just a few hours. You have to admit it’s a pretty amazing idea. It so amazing that the same paint is being used on iPhones to make them free and well-protected from scratch.

Now that a Nissan self-cleans and self-heals, the next step is to make it glow in the dark. The glow-in-the-dark car paint was made in collaboration with Hamish Scott, creator of the high visibility spray used on walking paths known as Starpath. The formula harnesses UV energy to make it glow when the sun goes down. What is even better is that the spray is organic, which is a great option if you want to go green with your choice of vehicle.

When your car glows in the dark, you won’t have to worry too much when you pass through dark areas or roads that are devoid of a lamppost. Just make sure you put it under the sun for the paint to work its magic at night.
