A few months after the launch of the new 3-door version, Mini doubles its size. For its third generation since 2001, the brand of Oxford prepares for the launch of the new Mini 5-door version with more family features than the popular three-door version.

The new 5-door Mini is presented in preview at this time through the official images. The car body is of course one of its highlights, that compared to the known three-door version, has a substantial difference which is the increase in the longitudinal dimensions and the adoption of two extra doors. In numerical terms, this is expressed in 3.98 m in length, that is 16 cm more than the Mini with 3 doors. Also, to ensure adequate interior space, even the wheelbase has been increased: it now measures 72 mm instead of the prior 2,57 mm.

This, indicated by the technicians of Oxford, brings the new 5-door Mini to offer even greater load capacity: the volume of the luggage compartment is 278 liters now in normal position, that is 67 liters more compared to the three-door one. Of note, due to increased ability to use the new Mini 5-door, the rear seats have split at a system of 60:40. What does not change in the technique of the new Mini 5-door is its trim, confirming the adoption of the multilink suspension at the rear.

Regarding the layout of the engines, the new Mini 5-door will have four different models, divided equally between petrol and diesel versions (the latter with the new TwinPower Turbo technology), all equipped with the Start & Stop system. The range starts with the Mini Cooper 5-door, equipped with the new 1.5 three-cylinder of 136 hp, which according to the technical point of Oxford consumes an average cycle of 4.7 liters of fuel per 100 km and emits 109 g / km co2; at the top, there is the Mini Cooper S 5-door, which has a 2.0 four-cylinder engine 192 hp (in this case, mid-cycle consumption and CO2 emissions are reported, respectively, at 5.9 liters per 100 km and 136 g / km).
