ATS: The Italian brand is back

After returning to the life of the Mark Ermini, it seems that the Italian ATS is also about to fall on the market again. The ATS is a company which was founded in Bologna in the 60s that created the ATS 2500 GT which was then presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1963. The ATS 2500 GT was one of the first cars in the world with central engine, a 2.5-liter V8 capable of bringing the car to 241 km/h thanks to its 210 horsepower. In 1964 there was then released an updated version called 2500 GTS with 260 horsepower. Two copies of the ATS 2500 GTS also participated in the Targa Florio but did not finish it. Of these two models only 5 cars arrived today on a total of units produced that is around twelve units according to some auto reviews. When traveling with this so fast car you can see so many places in so little time and admire many travel spots.

The new ATS 2500 GT, a car that will mark the return to the market of the brand, has a tubular chassis with composite body panels and carbon fiber that will create the sinuous lines of the supercar. The weight will be very little, only 1,000 kg dry, with a four-cylinder turbocharged Cosworth origin from about 550 horsepower. The sports coupe refers to its predecessor of 50 years ago with lines inspired by this model: the definitive look of the car was chosen from among 80 different designs that speculated style.

In the plans of ATS is also another car, the ATS Sport 1000, a real race car approved for use on the road: it will be available as a finished car, both in kit form, as is already the case for some British sports. The setting is very similar to that already seen on cars like the Radical SR3, with a tubular chassis combined with extremely lightweight body panels combined with an engine derived from motorcycle, to be chosen from the Suzuki Hayabusa, Yamaha R1, Honda CBR or 200 horses of origin MV Agusta.
