Viziv Subaru Concept | The future crossover in Geneva
Dynamic, sporty and elegant design at the same time. Here’s how the engineers of Subaru indicate the future of the crossover. The result which we will see in the coming days in the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, is the Subaru Viziv Concept prototype compact crossover that the Japanese brand will present during the first major European 2013 car festival as a foreshadowing of the styling and technological priorities in the notebook for Subaru. The concept that will be unveiled in Geneva highlights compact proportions: 4.32 m; 1.90 m wide, 1.51 m high and a step of 2640 mm. The character of Subaru crossover Viziv Concept is already visible in the style of the car body which is massive in the sides and the high waist line. The solution chosen for the side windows is sporty (single crystal divided by a thin vertical molding). To note the two large doors hinged at the front for vertical opening, allowing access to the four individual seats of the car without the central rib.

Under the hood, Subaru Viziv Concept is equipped with a new system Subaru Boxer Diesel Hybrid technology Lineartronic. Searching for the maximum yield efficiency and consumption emissions, the 2 liter Subaru from classical architecture to 4 opposed cylinders is used as a main unit of the vehicle and at the same time a generator of power to two electric motors is placed at the rear end designed to provide a 100% electric powered car while driving at low speed and in urban areas. For driving at high speed the boxer turbodiesel comes into play. The management of the electric engine or turbo occurs through a kinematic chain which chooses the exact moment for the use of one of two modes of propulsion.

The all wheel drive system uses an innovative method entitled “Independent rear motor driven symmetrical AWD” technology with which Subaru shows how the four wheel drive of the future will be. The two rear electric motors handle each one of the wheels of the rear axle and a system of coordinated management between the turbodiesel front and the two rear thruster controls the need for instantaneous transfer of torque between the axles. Moreover, this system always transfers increased driving force when cornering at the rear.
