The new Audi R8 | Three engine options
With its debut literally just around the corner, the new Audi R8 will offer the fans three options regarding the power units which will be accommodated behind the back of the driver. The aim of the German company is to present an advanced, as happened in 2006, design model coupe, with even more intensely driver-focused data, class leading performance and, of course, advanced technologies to sectors.
Starting from the base that will be used for the second generation R8, the Audi will build on the floor on which anointed the new Lamborghini Huracan, except that this super-coupe will be even stiffer, wider and possibly slightly more lengthy in terms of external dimensions, thus ensuring the required space on the inside.
Also important is expected to be the work of designers/engineers to further reduce the overall weight of the car, which will be achieved by the extended use of aluminum parts and carbon to selected elements of the body, such as the roof, bonnet coke. As regards the availability of motors, based on the information so far, the German company is expected to renew its confidence in the known atmospheric mechanical assemblies of 4.2 petrol and 5.2 liter (V8 and V10 respectively), which, being upgraded, is expected to yield approximately 25 additional horsepower reaching or surpassing respectively 450 and 550 horsepower.
Both for reasons directly related to reducing consumption and environmental compliance, the new data have emerged, due to adopt the known group of VW, which deactivates half the cylinders under certain conditions.
But the most important news here, though unconfirmed by the official lips, was the addition for the first time in the range of mechanical sets the Audi R8, a diesel engine. As suspected, this engine will be either known as a 4 litre TDI company or a new V10, 5.0 liter capacity, which is already progressing on behalf of Bentley.
According to our estimates we will be able to see live the new Audi R8 very soon, as it is very likely that the Germans make the surprise showing their new coupe in the upcoming international auto show in Paris in October.
