Nissan Resonance Concept at Detroit Auto Show 2013
If a large part of the success of Nissan comes from excellent sales of its crossovers like Qasqhai Juke and Murano, it is not surprising that the Japanese manufacturer will get a lot of points in the future for the Resonance Concept, a bold and futuristic prototype presented at this time to Detroit Motor Show 2013. Designed and developed in the Centre for the Nissan Design Study in San Diego, California. Nissan Resonance Concept anticipates the future design language of the Japanese manufacturer and in particular the next generation of luxury SUV Murano. The goal of designers led by Shiro Nakamura was to create a concept that had an absolutely innovative and outside the box look. This new style language called “V-Motion” is inspired by the concepts of freedom, space and light: the particular shape of a “V” front grille harmoniously embraces the boomerang shaped headlights. This particular geometry of the forms is furthermore also given in the tail of the car, in particular by optical groups that are mixed with the third rear pillar that flows around the rear window until it merges with it in a single element. The overview is completed by a sporty touch which comes from the large 22 inch alloy wheels that feature a helical shape called “Flare Orange“.

The interior reveals the many details typical of show cars that are difficult to apply on a production model but at the same time they offer an image of great effect. The panoramic glass roof provides a unique view to the outside and the unmatched interior luminosity while the dashboard literally wraps the driver and passenger with high quality materials such as walnut paneling and white skin. The infotainment system of the car can be controlled via the big screen with blue background color that occupies almost the entire section of the center console while just below there is the automatic gear shift lever with a minimal form.

The free spirit and innovative car can also be reflected on the mechanics of this particular SUV which is equipped with a modern hybrid scheme consisting of a 2.5 liter petrol engine coupled with two electric thrusters powered by lithium ion batteries, all controlled by a continuously variable transmission baptized next generation Nissan Xtronic CVT.
