More Electric Cars to Dominate in 2016
With 2015 coming to an end, EV manufacturers are gearing up to the new plug-in car models for car lovers. The coming year promises dominance of electric vehicles to hit the road as more and more motorists are appreciating the benefits of owning and driving these hybrids.
Here are four green cars for the year 2016:
Fortwo EV and Forfour EV
German brand Smart will be offering zero-emission powertrains for two of its upcoming models for 2016. This was made possible with the manufacturer’s collaboration with Renault. The Fortwo EV and the Forfour EV will be loaded with the same electric motor used in the Renault Zoe while batteries will be from Mercedes Benz. These babies will be lighter in weight as opposed to Renault EV.
Volvo S90 Saloon
Volvo is not being left behind next year. With the launching of the new Volvo S90 saloon, it has mentioned that it will electrify its entire range. It boasts of the T8 Twin Engine powertrain so expect for emissions of 50 9/km and savings in fuel at around 130 MPG. This large saloon has a stylish cabin despite its having a frugal zero-emission terrain.
Volkswagen Tiguan GTE
For SUV lovers, this new model from Volkswagen has the same technology and name of both Passat and Golf GTEs. Range is to be expected at around 30 miles and will be powered by 1.5 liter turbocharged gasoline engine along with an electric motor that offers 215 bhp. What’s great about this family-sized SUV is the exemption from congestion charge and road tax costs.
BMW PHEV Range
Expect four new PHEV models in the early months of 2016. All have the capability of running on electric mode as well as the promise of low emissions. Motorists can choose from SUV, executive saloon and luxury saloon, with the 330e considered the top among the four.
