Mazda wants to beat the competition with its new model: Luxury, Futuristic, Supermini

Mazda would be thinking to venture into the segment of B premium in order to intercept cars such as the Citroen DS3 and Mini Cooper. Ichiro Hirose, Vice-Chairman of the Department of Research and Development at Mazda Europe, has stated that there would be a strong interest in this regard and the arrival of a definitive model is already possible in over 2 or 3 years.

The details on the vehicle would still be very limited. However, Mazda is willing to bet in the growth of this type of car and the arrival of cars like the Audi A1 and Adam Opel, testify that the other manufacturers have high hopes of expanding trade “supermini”. Mazda in particular had already approached to B premium in 2008, with the Urbam Kiyora concept, designed by Laurens van den Acker.

Of course the new B-segment luxury Mazda has stylistic features very different from the concept of four years ago, relying instead on the distinctive features introduced by the new chief designer Akira Tamatani, father of CX-5 and the new Mazda6. Chassis and mechanics of the new Mazdina luxury will certainly be made according to the criteria of SkyActiv technology, with a wide range of petrol and diesel engines with high efficiency.
