Ford Mondeo | 5th generation
Towards the end of the year there will be released the 5th generation of the German model, which has a fresh design with several premium touches, while it is equipped with a 1.0 liter EcoBoost engine. According to the press conference, Mark Ovenden, head of Ford in Britain, the new generation of medium model is expected to be launched in the last months of the year. Specifically, Ovenden said the delay, release in spring of 2013, is due to technical issues that had to be resolved.
Moreover, he stressed that the new model will be located very close to the design edition of Vignale, which in its original form had seen him last September in Frankfurt. This of course means that we expect a new style with more curves in the body and many luxury items, which will probably make this model more competitive with premium categories. On the other hand though, Ovenden noted that in the simple versions of the new Mondeo will have very attractive price, and even better than the outgoing generation. Regarding the drive sets, attention turns to 1.000 EcoBoost, which all show that will supply the new model, limiting among other emissions below 130 g/km. Also, we will see the new EcoBoost 1.5 yield 150 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. Course will be available and the other German petrol range, such as 1.6 liter and the 2 liter engine.
Meanwhile, the diesel down to see the new 1.5 TDCI and a 2 liter motor. Later there is also provision for a hybrid version, which combines a 2 liter gasoline engine and an electric motor, which can together to throw the average consumption of the new Mondeo below 4.3 lt/100 km and CO2 emissions of less than 99 g/ km. As for the transmission, the new German middle will be available a 6speed manual transmission and optional, an automatic dual clutch 6speed. Rumors indicate that the additional diesel versions of the new model for the first time can be combined with 4wheel drive.
