2016 Jaguar F-Type Details Revealed
Jaguar has recently released details of their 2016 Jaguar F-Type vehicle. The biggest piece of information to come out of the announcement were the additions of an all-wheel drive and a six-speed manual. In addition, it was announced that the 550-hp F-Type R will be available in convertible form.
In the announcement, it was clear that Jaguar was trying to sway interested Porsche users towards their vehicle. For example, in the release, Jaguar didn’t mince words in saying that their “Jaguar F-Type Coupe, S Coupe and R Convertible have 65, 30 and 150 more horsepower respectively, than the Porsche Cayman, Porsche 911 Carrera and the 911 Carrera S Convertible.”
Jaguar also goes on to announce that they each have answers to the three aforementioned Porsche models and theirs comes at a much lesser price. The three similarly-equipped F-Type derivatives come in at $4,410, $23,745 and $19,165 less, respectively.
Three kinds of engines will be offered for the 2016 Jaguar F-Type: a base model with 340-hp supercharged V6, an S model with uprated 380-hp supercharged V6 and R models with the sledgehammer 550-hp V8.
The R models come in standard all-wheel drive and is optional on S models which are automatic.
The basic F-Type couple will retail at $65,995 and will come with a six-speed manual, and the price includes destination. On the other hand, the automatic versions have an increase in price of $1,300 making the vehicle worth $67,295.
The F-Type S coupe will start selling at $79,795 while the S convertible will retail at $81,395. An all-wheel drive puts on $6,000 to the price of coupes and $7,500 for convertibles. The F-Type R is the priciest of the bunch being priced at $104,595.
Apart from the prices, Jaguar also announced that their vehicles will have added five-year, 60,000-mile limited warranty, as well as complimentary scheduled maintenance that is free of charge.
The interior upgrades of the Jaguar F-Type vehicles include new dials for the instrument cluster, updated infotainment system and connectivity apps allowing owners to control certain functions through their smartphones. Additional features include calling for roadside assistance, locking the car remotely, changing the climate control and beeping the horn to locate the vehicle in a parking lot. Dealerships are expected to house the 2016 Jaguar F-Type in April.
